Who we are
Pacific Pond and Aquarium is a pond, waterfall, fountain and aquarium service company in North Hills, California, owned and run by Andrew Cleveland. CSLB License #1142677 C-27. This policy covers pacificpond.com and the ways you reach us from it: the quote form, phone calls and text messages. It tells you what we collect, who sees it, and the choices you have.
If anything here is unclear, call us at (866) 512-1113 (Mon to Fri 8:00 to 5:00 · Sat 8:00 to 12:00) and ask for Andrew.
What we collect
What you give us
- When you fill out our quote form: your name, company name if you add one, email address, phone number, street address, the services you are interested in, how you heard about us, how you prefer to be contacted, a description of the work, any photos you upload, and whether you ticked the boxes for marketing emails or marketing texts.
- When you call or text us: your phone number and whatever you tell us about your pond, fountain or tank.
- When you become a customer: the details we need to schedule, do and bill the work, such as your service address, access notes, the fish and equipment you have, and your payment history. Card payments are handled by Jobber, our scheduling and invoicing service. This website never sees or stores card numbers.
What your browser sends
- Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you look at, the page or ad that brought you here, and when you visited. Our hosting company, our security service and the analytics and advertising tools listed below collect this automatically.
How we use it
- To answer your request and give you a free quote by phone or email.
- To schedule and perform the work, send visit reminders and service updates, and bill you.
- To keep the records a licensed contractor has to keep.
- To see how people use the site and make it better.
- To measure whether our Google, Facebook and Instagram ads lead to calls and quote requests, and to show our ads to people who have visited this site.
- To send you marketing emails or texts, only if you said yes.
- To protect the site from abuse and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it except as described on this page.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of outside services to run the business and the site. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job.
- Jobber runs our quote form, scheduling and invoicing. What you type into the form goes straight to Jobber's servers. The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that you are a person and not a program. See Jobber's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
- Quo (formerly OpenPhone) carries our business phone line and text messages.
- WP Engine hosts the site and Cloudflare keeps it fast and secure. Both keep server logs that include IP addresses.
- Google provides Google Analytics (how people use the site), Google Ads (whether our ads lead to calls and quote requests, and remarketing, which shows our ads to people who have visited), Google Tag Manager (which loads those tools), the Google Map on our service-area page, and the YouTube videos on a few pages. The videos load only when you press play. Google collects data through cookies and similar identifiers. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) provides the Meta pixel, which runs on every page. It tells Meta that a browser visited our site and whether it reached our thank-you page after a quote request, so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and show them to people who have visited. If you have a Meta account, Meta may connect that visit to it under Meta's privacy policy.
- OpenFreeMap supplies the map tiles for the project map on our Design and construction page. Your browser requests those tiles from OpenFreeMap's servers, which see your IP address like any web server does.
- Our accountant, attorney or insurer when a job calls for it, and government agencies when the law requires it.
We do not give your information to other companies for their own marketing.
Cookies, tracking and your choices
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site itself sets none for ordinary visitors. The Google and Meta tools above set their own, and Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie. Here is how to limit them:
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
- Turn off ad personalization at Google ad settings, and stop Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Manage what Meta does with your visits at Meta ad preferences.
- Opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at once at optout.aboutads.info.
Do Not Track: some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. Because there is no agreed standard for how a website should answer it, this site does not change how it works when it receives one. The same goes for the Global Privacy Control signal at this time. The opt-out links above do work, and you can call us to be left out of any marketing.
Text messages
When you give us your phone number on our form or text us first, you agree to receive transactional text messages from Pacific Pond and Aquarium: visit reminders, appointment confirmations, quote follow-ups, service updates and replies to your questions. We send marketing texts only if you also tick the separate marketing box on the form. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts, STOP MKT to stop marketing texts only, or HELP for help. The full program terms are in our terms of use.
Pacific Pond and Aquarium may disclose personal data and other information as follows:
- Third parties that help provide the messaging service: we will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with a third party for purposes unrelated to supporting you in connection with that campaign. We may share your personal data with third parties that help us provide the messaging service, including platform providers, phone companies and other vendors who assist us in the delivery of text messages.
- Affiliates: we may disclose personal data to our affiliates or subsidiaries. If we do, their use and disclosure of your personal data will be subject to this policy.
All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. That information will not be shared with any third parties.
We email you about your quote and your jobs. We send marketing emails only if you chose to receive them on our form. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects the emails about your own work.
How long we keep it
We keep your contact details and job history for as long as you are a customer or an open prospect. Job and billing records stay for at least five years after the work, as California's contractor rules require. Photos you upload with a quote request stay with that request. Analytics and advertising data is kept by Google and Meta under their own retention settings. You can ask us to delete your details at any time; see your rights below.
How we protect it
The site runs over HTTPS, sits behind Cloudflare, and is hosted at WP Engine. Form answers go to Jobber, which handles payments on its own secure systems. Only Andrew and the team members who need your details to do your work can see them. No website or service can promise perfect security, so if you ever think something has gone wrong with your information, call us.
Your rights as a California resident
The California Consumer Privacy Act applies to businesses far larger than ours, so we believe it does not currently bind Pacific Pond and Aquarium. We follow its spirit anyway. You can ask us:
- What personal information we hold about you, and where it came from.
- To correct it.
- To delete it, except what we have to keep for tax, licensing or an open job.
- To stop sending you marketing emails or texts.
Call (866) 512-1113 or send a note through our quote form and say it is a privacy request. We will confirm who you are by calling or emailing the contact details on file, and answer within 45 days. We will never treat you differently for asking.
California's Shine the Light law (Civil Code section 1798.83) lets you ask which third parties received your personal information for their own direct marketing. We do not share personal information that way, so the answer is none.
Children
This site is for adults arranging work on their homes and businesses. It is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, call us and we will delete it.
Other sites we link to
We link to our Google Business Profile, Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other outside pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one stops at our door.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new effective date at the top. If a change affects what we do with information you have already given us, we will say so plainly on this page.
